Lend no hands they warned me
Kindness kills you quickly
Than those bloody bastards on
The kill field ever do
Lend no hands they warned me
But only for the war
Mercy is for the weak?
Many rotting corpses
Lay to my side, behind
Covered in white, rolled tight
Amidst the dreary mounds
Coughs echoes, blood flies, hands pleads
Faces half rotten screams
Heavy heart pulled my horse
Halting it’s bopping walk.
Mercy is for the weak?
Hands on food a water
Mind said “kindness kills you”
War was nasty, bloody!
My leg vanished, last blast.
I watched my breath flew like
Few hours ago I did.
Mercy is for the weak!

Written in response to Trimeter from dVerse in bop form. I’m a bit hazy on both meters and the bop form, so feel free to tell me if you spot any mistakes.

Well done!👏 The rhythm emphasized the emotion and intensity of the piece.

Based on the movies I’ve seen about war, your descriptions are spot-on. ‘Faces half rotten screams’ I get a vivid picture. This is very intense and the trimeter underscores the intensity. Really well written write 🙂

Thank you, miss Young. (pardon my tone, I have always wanted to call someone like that, no offense) my imagination mostly stemmed from the movies, so I’m glad you felt like that. Thank you once again for your kind words.

Nice bop poem written in trimeter lines. War or mercy. I hope not to be in situations where such choices are forced upon one, but who knows what the future brings?

I can’t imagine how hard it would be, it’s easy to make choices in a narrative, because you can take it wherever you wanna go, but it could be hard as hell in real life and I sincerely hope I don’t have to face situations like that.
