Jilly is hosting July challenge in which two poets write two parts of poem to complete it. I finished the quadrille wrote by Charlie which is in bold. Mine are italicized.
The bird broke
my concentration
when he pecked
the door.
“Anatomy of Melancholy”
from my fingers fell.
Closed, it hit the floor.
Hard,
And my mind quake,
I took it’s wing,
Broke out to fly.
Leaving the gloomy room
And the gloom book
Behind.
I don’t know what you were nervous about! It’s brilliant.

This is awesome! You take it from simple narration into inner-mind psychology. Brilliant! And very Poe-esque.

Also, a very deep allusion… a theorist of an atomic universe… wow!

Thank you so much! I’m glad you felt that way. I just get so gloomy when I read something about depression and when I read about that book you mentioned, it just came to me.

You, sir, are a scholar… nay, an intellectual! I’ve been accused of being one myself. I gladly lay that heavy mantle on your shoulders and now will go skipping off carefree across a field of daisies!

Haha! It’s indeed a heavy mantle. Now my watch begins, I’ll wander here to find someone suitable to pass on that mantle so look out for me in the field in a few days!
